How it works

PDF to PNG in 4 steps

  1. Drop a PDF onto the tool or click Choose File.

  2. Pages render locally into lossless PNGs.

  3. Choose 2× for screens or 3× when the output faces print.

  4. Download pages one by one, or everything as a ZIP with Pro.

When to use it

PNG is the lossless target: text stays razor-sharp, diagrams keep their hard edges, and nothing is smudged by compression. The right choice for documentation screenshots, embedded figures, and any page where words matter more than file size - rendered entirely on your device.

  • Embed contract or spec pages into documentation with perfect text.
  • Extract diagrams and charts from reports without compression smudge.
  • Archive important pages as future-proof lossless images.

Format & quality notes

  • PNG output is lossless - what pdf.js renders is exactly what you download.
  • Text-heavy pages produce reasonable PNG sizes; photo-heavy scans get large - that's where the JPG variant wins.
  • The renderer (Mozilla's pdf.js) ships with the page and runs locally - no document ever crosses the network.
FAQ

Questions about the PDF to PNG Converter.

Why choose PNG over JPG for PDF pages?

Sharpness. JPG compression slightly smudges hard edges - invisible in photos, visible in 10pt text. PNG keeps every letter exact.

Why are my PNG pages so large?

Lossless costs bytes, especially for scanned/photographic pages. If size matters more than perfect edges, use the PDF to JPG variant.

Is the PDF kept anywhere after converting?

It's never even sent anywhere - rendering happens in your browser's memory and is gone when you close the tab.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs?

Not yet - remove the password first. Encrypted PDF support is on the roadmap.
