When to use it
The classic sideways-photo problem is a JPG problem: cameras often save the image sideways with an orientation flag, and half the apps out there ignore the flag. Rotating here re-writes the actual pixels, so the photo is upright everywhere - old software, upload forms, printers, all of it.
